Chief Great Ogboru, the Delta State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Progressive Congress (APC), yesterday said the era of the hegemony of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is over and his time has come to be Governor of the State.
The People’s General as he is fondly called also urged Deltans to hold him accountable if he fails to deliver the goods as governor.
Ogboru made these statements while addressing thousands of supporters at APC Campaign rally at Ndokwa East and Ndokwa West local government areas of the state.
He commended the Ndokwa people for their conviction in his unfulfilled aspirations over the years as governorship candidate.
He, however, averred that his time has come for the Ndokwa nation to enjoy the dividends of democracy where development will be spread to all the nooks and crannies of the state.
“We have so many graduates in the state but no job opportunities, and as a result of that, they have become perpetual youths, but with the new Delta, all that will stop once I assume the office of the governor.
“Ndokwa East and West local government areas are known for business, but they have been abandoned by the failed PDP government.
“Funds will be allocated directly to local government and the people will decide what and how to use those funds for a speedy transformation of their areas.
“I will not deceive you as governor because I will not tell you what I cannot do; what I have told you is what I will do.
“So, we must start the process by re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari, Hon. Doris Uboh for Delta South, Paul Odili for Ndokwa Federal House of Representatives and Emeka Ozegbe for Ndokwa State House of Assembly come February 16 and March 2.
“Delta PDP knows they have failed in the forthcoming elections, so they are running from police to military for security, but I tell you today that their time is over in Delta State and our time has come,” he boasted.
Meanwhile, the APC state’s Chairman, Prophet Jones Erue, while addressing the crowd, said with Chief Ogboru as governor, there would be community development, noting that everybody will be involved in the governance of the state.
“PDP government has not brought anything good to Delta, therefore Deltans have to give Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru massive votes to actualize the new Delta that will usher in free and compulsory education for all Deltans, free medical care, job opportunity and other free amenities,” he enthused.
